The game is the same as the previous Three Kingdoms game in that it unifies the country. The difference is that its time (should be said to be the era) is expressed in real time, that is to say, it is not a turn-based system, but time is calculated in months. The focus of the game is war rather than internal affairs. Players can go to the front line, kill enemies on the battlefield, or strategize.
The game begins with the Yellow Turban Uprising in AD 185 and ends with Sima Yan's unification of the country in AD 280. During this period, players can enter from five different periods and choose their favorite monarch to unify the country. These five periods are: "Yellow Turban Rebellion", "Crackdown on Dong Zhuo", "Separatist regime", "Battle of Red Cliff" and "Three Kingdoms". The status of the monarchs in these five periods, the cities and generals under their command basically conform to the actual historical situation, thus increasing the realism and fun of the game.
